A flavour of the Scottish Highlands was given to recent special dinners at the Huddersfield Hotel.
Some 50 people attend each of the dinners, which are held approximately every six weeks. The fourth women’s event speakers were Aileen Armitage, whose subject was her Huddersfield Hawksmoor novels, and Mr Longdon, a story-teller on Radio 4’s Woman’s hour.
At the fifth men’s dinner the speaker was Wilf Lunn.
Mr Whitwam and Drum Corps from Huddersfield Territorial Army entertained on both nights and Mr Joe Marsden said they chose a Scottish theme to tie in with Burns Night.
Proceeds from collection and raffles at the events amounted to £200 for the Kirklees Mayor’s Appeal to help physically and mentally handicapped children. |

Won over by Dana's personality-plus
Dana's pleasant singing voice and personality were in good form. During her first set she
sang Christmassy numbers with a bubbly
choir from Kirkheaton Primary School.
During her solo numbers which included Eurovision winner All Kingds of Everything, Dana
was accompanied by an electric piano and a
backing tape. |
