Johnny’s Comet darts team won the Yorkshire Super League West section when they defeated Ackroyd Arms (Halifax) 8-0 in their final league fixture. It was the team’s sixth Yorkshire West title since 1982, and they now play in the Yorkshire Championship finals at Edlington WMC on Saturday, where victory would put them into the national finals.

The successful team, captained by John Bostock, include: Dave Crossland, Clive Pearce, Peter Mason, Mark Blair, Adrian Cooper, Ray Battye, Mick Hodge, John Haigh, Karl Temple, James Wilson, Paul Burnett, Simon Senior, Bobby Charlton, Dave Hirst and Javeed Gaffar. Skipper John Bostock is pictured with his wife, Lynne Buckingham, and some team members receiving the congratulations of former Kirklees Mayor Clr Colin Watson.
